Chart 01 / Watch and warning for small business

No chart names the storm. A good one says the pressure is falling.

Security for a small business works the way a weather office does. Instruments sit on the things that matter, readings come off them on a schedule, somebody reads the chart, and you are told in plain words what changed and what to do next. We will not tell you which attack is coming, because nobody honestly can. We will tell you when conditions on your own estate have turned.

Twenty four lines. Ten instruments. One bill each month.
102410201016101210081004 BAROGRAPH / TWELVE HOUR TRACE SPECIMEN WATCH WARNING 00 06 11 CHART 01 SUBJECT FALLING TREND SPAN 12 HOURS STATUS DRAWN
Specimen chart. Drawn to explain how a watch differs from a warning. It is not taken from any customer estate and no figure on it is a claim.
Chart 02 / Synopsis

Nobody backs a van up to the shop for the furniture.

The loss that shuts a shop is quiet, and usually it is polite. Money leaves against paperwork that looked right, or the records you trade on stop opening one Monday. Below are the four gauges we most often find already turned on a firm that sells to the public and holds customer detail.

OBS 01

The machine at the counter

One computer, four people, and a sign in the whole shift knows. It takes card payments, opens anything a supplier sends, and has not restarted since the spring. Nothing in the building is more useful to take over, and almost nowhere is that written down.

OBS 02

The address that moves money

Invoices land there. Bank details get altered there. Whoever reads it is doing three other jobs at the same time. Nobody has to break anything to profit from that arrangement. They only have to ask nicely on a busy afternoon.

OBS 03

The only copy of the customer list

Names, addresses, order history, plus whatever card handling came across from an older system. It sits in one place, has never been surveyed, and the truthful answer to how many copies exist is that nobody ever counted.

OBS 04

The account of somebody who left

Their mail forwards to a colleague, their sign in still works, and their handset is still enrolled. Payroll drops a leaver the same day. Unpicking everything else waits for a quiet week which never turns up.

Chart 03 / Instruments

Six instruments. One subscription. One desk answering.

Take whichever instruments you want; leave the others alone. Each line carries its own unit price per month, and they arrive together on one invoice. Every front page states what its instrument reads, what the reading costs, and precisely where it gives out.

INST 01SentinelOne + Fluency

Detection watch

Gauges sitting on the computers, readings drawn onto one chart across the whole estate, and engineers who act on a turn instead of posting a graph to you at breakfast.

  • Behaviour read at the machine, whether that machine runs Windows, macOS, Linux or a cluster node.
  • Fluency lays each reading beside the others, so a bulletin reaches you carrying its surroundings.
  • Three tiers of response, running from notice only up to containment with reversal.

INST 02ThreatLocker

Execution control

The shutter, not the gauge. Software nobody approved never starts on the machines carrying work you could not replace.

  • An observation period assembles the approved list out of whatever your staff genuinely open.
  • Updates from a vendor get tracked, so a fresh release does not shut the counter down mid morning.
  • Ringfencing fixes which files, which programs and which destinations an approved application may reach.

INST 03Ironscales

Mailbox watch

Protection living inside the mail tenant itself, Microsoft side or Google side, together with the practice that makes staff harder to talk round.

  • It joins over API, reading mail already delivered to the mailbox.
  • Shapes of impersonation and of takeover get read against your tenant rather than a generic model.
  • Brief training handed to whichever people their own behaviour says should get it.

INST 04N-able N-sight, plus Addigy on Apple and Zimperium on handsets

Device fleet

The station list for your hardware. Machines patched, lookups filtered, Apple gear properly enrolled, and handsets that somebody finally reads.

  • N-able N-sight covers the watch, the patching, scripted work and reach-in access.
  • Web and lookup filtering travel on that same agent, with nothing extra to rack.
  • Addigy runs Apple. Zimperium reads the iOS and Android handsets.

INST 05Actifile

Data exposure

Survey the ground first. A folder still unlocated is a folder beyond governing, so the survey precedes any ruling on what may happen to what it turned up.

  • It sweeps each machine, plus the shares that machine can see, for regulated and commercially valuable material.
  • Exposure carries a score per device, and the score is what makes clean up sequenceable rather than endless.
  • Encryption at the file, plus control of the exits data genuinely uses.

Backup and continuity

Copies kept well apart from whatever it is they protect, and restores put to the test instead of taken on faith.

  • Whole disk copies and file level copies taken from workstations, from physical servers, and from hypervisor guests.
  • N-able Cove covers your Microsoft tenant. Dropsuite takes Workspace, plus directory configuration, plus the ledger.
  • Restores proved on a rota, which turns recovery into something evidenced rather than something hoped for.

Chart 04 / Wording

What a watch means, what a warning means, and what neither one is.

Weather offices keep those two words apart for a good reason, and we borrow the distinction because it makes a bulletin easier to act on. Being exact about it matters, including about the half of it that is not a promise.

Wording 01

Watch

Conditions on your estate have made some class of trouble likelier than usual, and something wants looking at. A machine began refusing lookups it never used to make. A leaver still holds a live sign in. Nothing has gone wrong yet, and this is the cheap hour to move.

Wording 02

Warning

It is under way now, and the desk is already on it. A bulletin under this heading states what has been done, what is still running, and which decision we need from you. One quick read should be enough, even for somebody who is not technical.

Wording 03

Neither is a clock

Those two words describe the phrasing of a bulletin. They are not a response time, and none appears anywhere here, since a figure never measured against your own estate would simply be invented. Ask for a timing commitment in a signed agreement and we will discuss a real one.

PLAIN

No confidence percentage gets published either. Where a reading is uncertain, the bulletin says as much in words, names what would settle it, and says what is being done meanwhile.

Chart 05 / Makers

We did not build these instruments. We read them.

Fashion favours hinting that a managed service invented the tooling it runs. This one did not. Underneath CyberThreat Management are commercial platforms, chosen for holding up under load, and licensed by Fortify 24x7. Reading them all day is somebody's actual job here. A named instrument, plus a number you can ring, beats any sealed box.

SentinelOne

Reads program behaviour at the machine, on every operating system listed here, cluster nodes included.

Fluency

Pulls readings off many sources and draws them on one chart. A bulletin then arrives with its context already attached.

ThreatLocker

Approved lists, ringfencing, elevation control. It runs on whichever machines carry work you could not replace.

Ironscales

Mailbox-level API protection living inside the tenant. Gateway is simply the wrong noun, so we leave it unused.

N-able N-sight

Watching, patching, scripting, remote hands and lookup filtering, all off one agent.

Addigy

Management of the Mac estate and the iPads. Enrolment is the day it stops being nobody's job.

Zimperium

Handset side reading of conditions on iOS and on Android, for the phones staff answer mail from.

Actifile

Locates sensitive material. Scores each device. Encrypts along the exits data uses.

N-able Cove

Disk and file copies lifted off workstations. Physical servers too, plus hypervisor guests, plus a Microsoft tenant.

Dropsuite

Over on the Google Workspace side, the same. Directory configuration out of Entra ID as well, and the ledger inside QuickBooks Online.

Ten commercial platforms, licensed and operated by Fortify 24x7
Chart 06 / Standing the desk up

What a first fortnight looks like in practice.

None of this wants a committee. Two weeks usually gets a firm covered and quiet; the part that drags is nearly always calibration rather than putting agents out.

Siting call

Half an hour on siting the gauges. Machine count, what they run, who holds which keys, and the cost of losing each. What you get back is a list of lines, a monthly figure beside it, and no deck.

Card on file

Lines get entered on this site and settled by card. The card is handled by Stripe, never by us. Billing is monthly, charged up front, descriptor FORTIFY 24X7.

Gauges out

Installers and enrolment links reach your portal, generally within the working day. Platforms come in by their own separate routes, and no route expects you to sit in a vendor console.

Calibration

Approved lists bed in. Filters gather exceptions. Backup schedules get sized against data you genuinely hold. Calibration week divides a quiet start from a noisy one.

On watch

Readings land at our desk. They stop landing in your inbox. The portal stays yours for lines, for installers and for bulletins, with a person at the far end.

Chart 07 / Edges of the forecast

Things we will not claim.

Security pages published this month promise complete protection almost without exception. Not this one. Complete protection is nothing anybody actually sells, so what follows is where a subscription honestly runs out.

  • We do not forecast attacks. Nothing here predicts who will come after you, or when. Forecasting weather works because the atmosphere obeys physics. An attacker chooses. What we can do is read conditions on your own estate and say when they have turned, which is a smaller claim and a true one.
  • We publish no confidence percentage. You will find no figure on this site claiming we are some percentage sure of anything, because none has been measured for your estate and inventing one would be the alternative. Where a bulletin carries doubt, it says so in words and names what would settle it.
  • Watch and warning are wording, not a clock. Those two words describe how a bulletin gets phrased. They are not a commitment on timing. Timing commitments belong in a signed agreement against your particular estate, and that is where to ask for one.
  • We are not insurance. Underwriting a loss is not something any line here does. Wanting a policy means buying one from a firm that sells policies. Several carriers will expect controls of roughly this shape to be in place first.
  • Somebody allowed to open a document may still keep hold of it. Nobody needs to break in for that. Leaver procedure covers that. So does access review, plus whatever the employment agreements you wrote happen to say. All three belong to you.
  • Coverage follows enrolment. A line covers the devices enrolled on it and the tenants connected to it. That machine in the stockroom which never enrols falls outside everything listed here, whatever you paid.
Chart 08 / Rate card

Twenty four lines. A unit price on each, charged monthly.

Rates load live out of billing, so the figure shown is the figure charged. Enter what you want, correct quantities in the log, and settle once the list reads right. All of it merges into one monthly subscription.

The rate card did not report. A reload normally settles it. Should the catalogue stay blank, write to desk@cyberthreat.management and a price gets put together by hand.
